Media Lightbox, the award winning Newry-based software storage company, has launched an aggressive global sales drive and will increase its workforce by 50 per cent early this year.  The company’s growth plans are being part-funded by Bank of Ireland and it is also receiving support from Invest Northern Ireland.

The web-based company launched its new system for storing and sharing digital files last September and since then has built an impressive client base which includes global brand name Vodafone and leading marketing agency Spirit Marketing Group.

Bank of Ireland said today the funding would enable the company to drive sales, in particular in the US and North America, and to recruit three new staff, bringing the total headcount to nine across its offices in Newry and Belfast.  The business was recently awarded Best Emerging Company at IntertradeIreland’s annual Seedcorn Competition 2008.

Geraldine O’Hagan, Commercial Manager, Bank of Ireland, said: “Our funding for Media Lightbox demonstrates how Bank of Ireland is working closely with a local business to help finance development opportunities. Locally-owned companies that can compete in world markets are absolutely critical to the task of building a strong private-sector economy in Northern Ireland.

“Media Lightbox is led by a highly skilled and experienced professional management team who have the contacts and the strategic focus that will ensure the business is well placed to exploit the global market.”

Shane Meehan, Chief Executive of Media Lightbox, added: “We’ve had a phenomenal response from the market since we launched last year. Following eighteen months in research and development we’re now focusing our efforts on building our client list.

“We have just recently returned from meetings with global brands in San Francisco and Silicon Valley who expressed interest in using our product.  With the dedicated support from Bank of Ireland and the first class service they are providing us with, we’re well placed for strong growth both in GB and internationally in 2009.”
