In a series of seminars for businesses in Northern Ireland, Bank of Ireland discusses the opportunities and challenges for local companies in emerging from the recession. At yesterday's seminar at the Tower Hotel in Derry, over 75 members of the local business community learned about regional drivers for growth that will help facilitate a gradual, sustainable recovery.

Speakers included Stephen Connolly, Regional Director Business Banking and Alan Bridle, Head of Economics & Research at Bank of Ireland Northern Ireland. Guests also heard from motivational speaker Neil O'Brien of Time to Fly on Avoiding the Recession Mindset.

Alan Bridle explained that while there are positive signs that recession is ending, the local economy faced a growth challenge in both the short and medium term. Globally, he suggested that a slow and gradual recovery is preferable, while also highlighting some opportunities for local firms in a much changed landscape for both public and private sectors.

Stephen Connolly said: "As a bank, we are committed to our role in working with customers to provide solutions that will support them through economic recovery. This includes access to financial products that are tailored to their needs, and also to information and advice on how best to leverage the opportunities that exist as the global economy starts to emerge from the recession."

The final seminar will take place on October 8th in Belfast's Hilton Hotel. Businesses who wish to attend the seminar on October 8th should contact us online at www.bankofireland.co.uk/businessbanking . Seminars will begin at 8am and conclude by 10am.
